How We Make Our Attars

The Ancient Art of Attar

Attar — also known as ittar — is a natural perfume oil derived from botanical sources. Unlike modern alcohol-based perfumes, attar is concentrated, pure, and alcohol-free. The tradition stretches back centuries across Persia, the Middle East, and the Indian subcontinent — particularly in the fragrance capital of India, Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh.

At The Drip Secrets, we carry this tradition forward with modern quality control and an uncompromising commitment to purity.

Where Our Ingredients Come From

We source raw materials from across India — each chosen for its purity, potency, and character:

From the rose fields of Kannauj — Damask Rose, one of the most prized floral ingredients in Indian perfumery.

From the sandalwood forests of Mysore — pure Sandalwood Oil, the base note that anchors many of our blends.

From the spice markets of Delhi and Mumbai — rare spices, resins, and botanical extracts that add depth and complexity.

Our full ingredient palette includes Damask Rose, Jasmine, Frangipani, Kewra, Sandalwood Oil, Agarwood, Vetiver, Saffron, Halmaddi, natural spices, and plant-based resins.

What we never use: animal-derived ingredients, synthetic chemicals, ethyl alcohol, or artificial preservatives.

How We Blend Each Attar

Step 1 — Sourcing Every batch begins with ingredient sourcing. We visit suppliers personally and select only what meets our quality standard. No compromise on raw material quality — because the finished attar is only as good as what goes into it.

Step 2 — Blending Our blending process is done by hand in small batches. We work with trained chemical engineer collaborators who help us achieve precise scent ratios while maintaining our no-chemical commitment. Small batches mean we can control quality at every stage.

Step 3 — Resting After blending, each attar rests for a period to allow the ingredients to marry and the scent to develop its full character. Rushing this process produces flat, thin fragrances. We don’t rush.

Step 4 — Testing Every batch goes through a testing process before it reaches customers. We check for longevity on skin, scent accuracy, colour consistency, and skin safety. Only batches that pass every checkpoint get bottled.

Step 5 — Bottling Each attar is hand-filled into our signature bottles, labelled, and sealed. Small batch production means every bottle gets individual attention.

Where Our Ingredients Come From

No Alcohol. Here's Why That Matters.

Most commercial perfumes contain 70-90% ethyl alcohol. Alcohol serves as a carrier and helps the scent project — but it also dries the skin, irritates sensitive skin types, and causes the fragrance to evaporate quickly.

Attar needs no alcohol. The fragrance oil itself is the carrier. Applied directly to pulse points — wrists, neck, behind the ears — it blends with your natural body heat and releases gradually throughout the day.

The result: a scent that feels like it belongs to you, not one that announces itself and disappears within an hour.

One drop. All day. No compromise.
